I just use regular oatmeal, not the instant. For two adults and a toddler, I use two cups of oatmeal and four cups of water. Bring it to a boil, cover it, and turn it down to low. After five minutes or so, take a small plastic bowl, fill it 2/3rds full with oatmeal, and put it in the freezer to cool. Notice that I don't add salt or sugar or anything. For me and Urbana, milk and some sliced fruit on top are nice. For Bobo, here is the surprising part: he likes it if you just plop the cooled oatmeal right down in a blob on his tray. Make sure you test the temperature first with your finger, all the way through the oatmeal in several places, to make sure it is cool enough. I give him a spoon as well to practice, but mostly he just picks up the somewhat solid blobs of oatmeal and eats them. He actually likes this better than a more traditional presentation. Plus, he doesn't have any added sugar or salt, just whole grain oats.
